राष्‍ट्रीय अन्‍वेषण अभिकरण (NIA) ने कई राज्यों मे पापुलर फ्रंट ऑफ इंडिया (PFI) से जुडे लोगों और उनके परिसरों पर छापे मारे हैं। सरकारी सूत्रों ने कहा, कि छापों के दौरान PFI  के 100 से अधिक सदस्यों और उसके लिए काम करने वालों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है। उत्‍तर प्रदेश, बिहार, दिल्ली, केरल, आंध्र प्रदेश, तेलंगाना, कर्नाटक और तमिलनाडु सहित दस राज्यों में छापेमारी चल रही है। ये कार्रवाई एनआईए, प्रवर्तन निदेशालय और राज्यों की पुलिस ने मिलकर की है।

केरल में NIA ने आज (22 सितंबर) सवेरे PFI सदस्यों के दफ्तरों और आवासों पर छापे मारे। एनआईए ने PFI के मुखिया ओ.एम.ए.सलाम, प्रदेशाध्यक्ष सीपी मोहम्मद बशीर और राष्ट्रीय महासचिव वीपी नसुरूदीन सहित कई सदस्यों को हिरासत में लिया है। PFI सूत्रों ने कहा, कि NIA  ने उसके 14 सदस्यों को हिरासत में लिया है। PFI के समर्थकों ने छापेमारी का विरोध किया है।'

महाराष्‍ट्र में आतंकरोधी दल ने PFI से जुडे 20 आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार किया है। आज तडके पुलिस ने औरंगाबाद, पुणे, कोल्‍हापुर, बीड़, परभणी, नांदेड, जलगांव, जालना, मालेगांव, नवीमुंबई, ठाणे और मुंबई में छापेमारी की। गैरकानूनी गतिविधियों में लिप्‍त होने, समुदायों के बीच वैमन्‍स्‍य फैलाने और राजद्रोह के आरोप में इन लोगों के खिलाफ मुंबई, नाशिक, औरंगाबाद और नांदेड़ में मामला दर्ज किया गया है।

कर्नाटक के गृहमंत्री अरागा जनेन्द्र ने स्पष्ट किया, कि PFI के सदस्यों पर जांच एजेंसियों की छापामारी खुफिया सूचनाओं के आधार पर हुई है, इसे अल्पसंख्यकों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई नहीं माना जाना चाहिए। बेंगलुरू में पत्रकारों से बातचीत में राज्य के गृहमंत्री ने कहा- जांच एजेंसियों के पास उनके खिलाफ पक्के सबूत हैं। हाल ही में शिवमोगा से दो इंजीनियंरिंग स्नातक छात्रों को गिरफ्तार करने पर उन्होंने कहा कि उनका संबंध आतंकी संगठनों से था। NIA और प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ED) ने संयुक्त रूप से कर्नाटक में बेंगलुरू और मंगलुरू सहित कई स्थानों पर PFI से जुडे लोगों के खिलाफ छापे मारे हैं।

National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting searches (today morning, 22 September) at the premises linked to Popular Front of India in several states. Official sources said, over 100 PFI leaders and functionaries have been arrested in the raids. The raids are underway in ten states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The searches are being carried out in a joint operation by NIA, Enforcement Directorate and State Police.

In Kerala, the NIA took several leaders of the PFI into custody including its Chairman, OMA Salam, State President C P Mohammed Basheer, and National General Secretary VP Nasarudeen among others. The PFI State Committee office in Calicut, district offices, and residences of the current and former office bearers of the organization were among the places raided.

PFI sources said. the NIA took 14 of its leaders into custody in the state. Supporters of the PFI protested against the raids at different places.

Karnataka Home minister Araga Jnanendra has clarified that the multi-agency raids against PFI leaders across the country are based on intelligence inputs, hence it should not be branded as action against the minorities. Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru today, the minister emphasised that the agency is acting on the basis of strong evidence available with them.

On two BE graduates arrested from Shivamogga recently, the minister said that they had links with terrorist organisations.

NIA and ED jointly conducted raids at several places in Karnataka, including Bengaluru and Mangaluru, today on those associated with PFI. The police took several PFI supporters into preventive custody for gathering outside the raid sites and shouting slogans against the investigating agencies.

Maharashtra ATS arrested 20 accused linked with Popular Front of India. Raids were conducted in Aurangabad, Pune, Kolhapur, Beed, Parbhani, Nanded, Jalgaon, Jalna, Malegaon, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Mumbai.

Four offences under sections of the IPC and the UAPA have been registered in Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad and Nanded for indulging in unlawful activities, promoting enmity amongst communities and conspiring to wage war against the State.
