टेलीविजन पर अपने संदेश में राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमिर पुतिन ने रूस समर्थित विद्रोहियों का सामना कर रहे यूक्रेन के सैनिकों से समर्पण करने और अपने घरों को लौटने का आग्रह किया है। उन्होंने कहा- यूक्रेन पर कब्जा करना रूस का उद्देश्य नहीं है। पुतिन ने अन्य देशों को चेतावनी दी कि अगर किसी ने भी रूस की कार्रवाई में दखल दिया तो वह उनके खिलाफ जवाबी कार्रवाई करेगा।
रूस का यूक्रेन पर पूरी क्षमता से हमला : यूक्रेन
यूक्रेन ने कहा है कि पुतिन ने यूक्रेन पर पूरी क्षमता से हमला कर दिया है। यूक्रेन के विदेशमंत्री दिमित्रो कोलेबा ने शहरों पर हुए हमलों को युद्ध करार देते हुए कहा, यूक्रेन अपनी रक्षा में जवाबी कार्रवाई करेगा और वह अपने प्रयास में सफल भी होगा। यूक्रेन के राष्ट्रपति ब्लोदिमीर जेलेंस्की ने कहा, रूस ने यूक्रेन की सीमा पर लगभग दो लाख सैनिकों और युद्धक वाहनों को तैनात किया है।

अमरीका के राष्ट्रपति जो बाइडेन ने यूक्रेन पर रूस के हमले की कडी निन्दा करते हुए कहा, कि अमरीका और उसके गठबंधन देश मिलकर इस हमले का जवाब देंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि विश्व समुदाय रूस के इस कदम को रोकेगा। राष्ट्रपति पुतिन को जिम्मेदार ठहराया। बाइडेन ने कहा कि राष्ट्रपति पुतिन ने सुनियोजित ढंग से युद्ध का रास्ता चुना है, जिससे मानव जीवन की भारी क्षति होगी और लोगों की तकलीफें बढेंगी।

रूस ने हाल ही में यूक्रेन के पूर्वी क्षेत्रों दोनेत्सक और लुहान्सक को एक स्वतंत्र गणराज्य के रूप में मान्यता देने के बाद यह सैन्य कार्रवाई की है। इससे पहले, पुतिन ने अमरीका और उसके सहयोगी देशों पर आरोप लगाया कि वे यूक्रेन को नाटो में शामिल होने से रोकने की रूस की मांग की अनदेखी कर रहे हैं।

तमिलनाडु सरकार ने यूक्रेन में रह रहे राज्य के लोगों के लिए अलग से एक सहायता डेस्क बनायी है। प्रवासी भारतीय तमिलों के पुनर्वास और कल्याण आयुक्त कार्यालय ने अपील की है कि संकट में फंसा कोई भी व्यक्ति मदद के लिए वेबसाइट www.nrtamils.tn.gov.in के माध्यम से तुरंत संपर्क कर सकता है। वे अपनी किसी भी समस्या के बारे में इन फोन नम्बरों- 044- 2 8 5 1 5 2 8 8, 9 60 0023 645, 9 9 4 0 2 5 6 4 4 4 पर सम्पर्क कर सकते हैं। इस बीच, भारतीयों को लाने गया एयर इंडिया का विमान यूक्रेन का हवाई क्षेत्र बंद होने की वजह से दिल्ली लौट रहा है।

Russia has launched a special military operation in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region. Russian forces entered Ukrainian territory from Crimea. Ballistic missile attacks were also launched on a number of Ukrainian cities this morning.
In a televised address, Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged Ukrainian soldiers who are facing off Russian-backed rebels to lay down weapons and return to their homes. However, Mr Putin said, Russia did not plan to occupy Ukraine, but warned that Moscow's response would be instant if anyone tries to take on Russia.

Ukraine also said, Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said, Ukraine will defend itself and will win.
US President Joe Biden said, Washington and its allies would respond in a united and decisive way to an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces on Ukraine.
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar today discussed the Ukraine situation with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell Fontelles. They also discussed how India could contribute to de-escalation efforts.
Dr Jaishankar also held a telephonic discussion with UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss today. They exchanged perspectives on the Ukrainian situation.

The External Affairs Ministry has set up a control room in New Delhi in view of the prevailing situation in Ukraine. The control room will provide information and assistance. The Commissionerate of Rehabilitation and welfare of non resident Tamils has appealed to contact through www.nrtamils.tn.gov.in for any help. Air India flight - AI 1947 which was flying to Ukraine to bring Indian people home has returned to Delhi due to the closure of Ukranian airspace. India has called for an immediate de-escalation of tensions between Russia and Ukraine. India's Permanent Representative to UN,TS Tirumurti cautioned that the situation is in danger of spiraling into a major crisis.
Meanwhile, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres made a direct appeal to President Putin to stop Russian troops from attacking Ukraine.
NATO allies in coordination with EU
NATO has said that it stands in solidarity with Ukraine. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said in a televised statement that NATO allies in close coordination with EU and other partners all over the world, are imposing severe economic sanctions on Russia.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said, he spoke to Ukrainian President Zelensky to offer support. In a televised statement on Ukraine, Johnson said, their worst fears have come true. He said, Russia has unleashed war in Europe and attacked a friendly country without any provocation or credible excuse.
Turkey has also expressed solidarity with the Ukraine, saying it will continue to support its territorial integrity.
European Commission Chief Ursula von der Leyen said in a televised address, President Putin is responsible for bringing war back to Europe and the EU would impose new sanctions on Russia. Iran on the other hand said, the war in Ukraine is caused by "NATO's provocative actions".
